I decided to get back to drawing since it's been so long and I need to work on my skills. More than that I need to develop my own drawing style that's all my own. I can practically xerox something by looking at it, but that's not style, that's imitation. I'll never trace. Let me emphasize that a little bit. I will NEVER, EVER, EVER TRACE! If I ever even considered tracing I'd give up drawing and start submitting jackets, plushies and puppets. I'm an artist and I'll be damned if I'm not going to prove that. So I decided to look at one of pixelledanddead's new sketch and examine her style. She's an extraordinary artist so I decided to study her style to see what I could gleam. Before doing that I had been trying to sketch Hellena's head since I suck at drawing faces. one of them looked mexican for some reason. One of them looked drunk. One of them looked kind of like a troll doll. But after looking for inspiration somehow BOOM I made a breakthrough and I think I may have actually developed some skill. If it were an RPG I might have moved to being a level 2 artist.
I like the way she looks. So when I see my girlfriend I'll show her to see what she thinks. Maybe she can help me develop my style some more. She's one of the best artists I know, after all...why is it that so many of the girls I know are fantastic artists?
....all except Zelda, I totally make her look like a noob lol...
I'll see what I can do about developing my style, defining my characters and really putting myself into art from now on. no promises, I'll still probably suck, but that'd be cool.
